Self-Esteem Session.

I was talking to two young ladies last night; they wanted to vent, they wanted some advice. I've known them for years, so I was ready. they mostly talked about boys. cheating, lying, etc... you know the drill. so after I let them both talk, I said okay, now let me ask y'all both a question, the same question...

Spooky Past.

A lot of people can't move forward in life because they are haunted by their past. They are bound by their past. We often define ourselves by what we have done, what has been done to us, or what has been done around us. The truth is that God wants to demolish the demons of your past so he can fulfill your pure desires while you fulfill your destiny.

God is Love Letter: Two.

You're curious about life. You're curious about the universe. You're curious about your purpose. You're curious about who you are. I am the one who everything was created through, including you (John 1:1-5). I am not the universe, I created it (Genesis 1:1). I am the author of life itself (Acts 3:15).

A Child's Heart.

Don't have the mind a child, but have the heart of a child.

I was thinking about the paradox of how a child's ways are viewed in the bible. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:11 "When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things."

However, Jesus said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven." (Matthew 18:3-4)

Glory and Grit.

I want to talk about the unrealistic and realistic expectations of following Christ, and life in general.

I've been thinking a lot about how we live this thing called life, and I've seen two extremes that are unrealistic.

Go.

Last night I was driving. Five different times as I was approaching a red light, it immediately turned green as I was still driving. I was like wow, what a smooth night.

It made me think about life and how we hesitate to move when God says move.

Bread of Life.

A lot of celebrities, famous people, rich people, and maybe even someone you know personally seem to have it all but really are empty inside. Maybe you are one of those people.

We keep hearing about tragedies and scandals among the rich and famous. We know people who seem to have it all together but are crumbling on the inside. Maybe you see that person in the mirror.

Genesis and Relationships.

Last night I spoke with a class of teens and young adults about relationships. I broke down a majority of Genesis chapter 2 for our lesson, explaining to them that the bible is rich with wisdom and insight if we look deeper. God's mind is infinite; there's always a lesson in everything that he does.

Protect Your Time.

Have you ever heard someone say they don't have enough time in the day? They wish there were more hours in the day? Or maybe you've said it. Occasionally, I can understand the feeling... but as a generalization, that's just not true. There is always enough time to do what you truly need to do. The problem is we put things on our plate that don't need to be eaten, we want it.

Do You Know What God is Doing?

"Man, I don't know what God is doing but it's something big." Have you ever heard this churchy two dollar statement? Or something similar? Why do people who say they follow God or love God for years and years never know what God is doing?

Manifesting Potential

Good morning! I'm excited about this one. God did not make any of us for no reason. Let me rephrase that. When God created us, He created us with a purpose to accomplish and gifted us with the potential to reach it. But...how do we access it? What do we need to unlock it?

Money Can't Buy Happiness

Ah, the same old tired phrase. "I already know that!" you say. Yes that's good but, can you actually explain it? What does it really mean? What situation are you applying it to? Does the meaning change in different situations? Are there exceptions? Well here is what I think it means in a general, but mostly relationship based scenario.

Love Scriptures

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

God is Love Letter: One.

I have not forgotten about you. Actually, I thought about you before you were even born. I think about you all the time. I made you on purpose, for a purpose; you're not on this planet by chance. I love you dearly and you come from me. You are a treasure to me, with even more treasure within you (Psalm 139:13-18)

The Hand You're Dealt.

I love playing Spades. I think there's something we can learn from the game when it comes to life. For those of us who play or have even just watched, we know that feeling of anticipation that quickly decreases when we see our lacking hand.
