the little victories

My fiancée said something great the other day; she likes to celebrate the little victories.

Like a puzzle, it’s important to have a big picture, but it's also important to appreciate all of the little pieces that contribute to the big picture.

Discouragement tries to knock on our doors when we are facing a battle or in a tough situation that seems too big for us. Discouragement can get even deeper if we focus on everything we think is wrong with ourselves, other people, or our circumstances. We become overwhelmed.

That is why it's important to celebrate the little victories along the way. Don't dwell on mishaps or mistakes. Choose joy. Do not let negative emotions reign in your soul.

Believe that God has good intentions for you. Believe that nothing is too big for God. Relax and take pleasure in the little things like chicken sandwiches or your favorite salad. Listen to an uplifting song. Get some good sleep. Get some good exercise. Find a healthy hobby that helps you decompress. Release some creativity. Choose life. No accomplishment you achieve is too small. Appreciate your personal growth. You may not be where you want to be, but you aren't where you used to be. Believe that God can move wherever you are in life. Think about the things you do have instead of the things you don't have. Think about the opportunities you have right now. Be grateful for the things you enjoy like the very device you're reading this on right now. Praise and appreciation builds faith.

Here are some scriptures to think about:

“Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.” ~Matthew‬ ‭6:34‬

“So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose.” ~Romans‬ ‭8:28

“Praise him for his miracles of might! Praise him for his magnificent greatness!” ~Psalm 150:2‬

(all of these are from The Passion Translation)
