Protect Your Time.

Have you ever heard someone say they don't have enough time in the day? They wish there were more hours in the day? Or maybe you've said it. Occasionally, I can understand the feeling... but as a generalization, that's just not true. There is always enough time to do what you truly need to do. The problem is we put things on our plate that don't need to be eaten, we want it.

There are certain relationships you don't really need, you want them. You have 5 degrees you don't even use because you wanted them. You didn't get enough sleep because you stayed up partying. You're trying to help people you're not even assigned to. I'm talking to you.

You need to protect your time. Your time and your life are far too valuable to waste. Just because you woke up another day doesn't mean you're not capable of wasting time.

We hear a lot about sin. It's usually the big 3 of something sexual in nature, drinking and drugs. Listen. We have a whole lot of people out here who don't do any of that, who look down on other's situations and struggles but are living in sin themselves. I'm not even talking about having a judgmental heart, I'm talking about time wasters.

James 4:13-17 (NIV)
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

There is a purpose and plan for your life: a unique way for God to pour out what he put in you for other people. Sin simply means to miss the mark, not "doing bad" as religious folk would love to tell you. God doesn't care about you "being good" or "being bad" he cares about you being close to him and the character will follow. Sin is us separating ourselves from God, not God separating himself from us. So, if I waste my time, I am not moving towards who God is and who I am in him. That means I am separating myself from God, therefore, I am living in sin. I'm wasting my life.

Okay so what does this mean for you? Cut off those nappy headed little ragamuffins in your phone who are wasting your time and playing with your heart. Love yourself and be whole so the right person will cross paths with you. Don't do business or talk money with anybody who isn't for real. Don't enter into business deals with crooks. Define friendships, mentorships, and all other ships so boundaries can be set in place. Even your family has to know how much they can pull on you before you have to back away and breathe. Ask yourself do you really need to go out all the time. Get enough sleep. Stop gossiping. Let people know you don't have all day to talk on the phone. Don't answer FaceTime calls if they were not authorized. Get up and do something besides listen to music and play 2K. You spend way too much time brushing your wigs. Release some creativity. You get the idea. You know you could be doing more than what you're doing right now. I'm talking to myself too, that's why I'm writing more. All of this loose time adds up. Minutes here and there turn to years in an instant.

Don't die without reaching your destiny.
