Manifesting Potential

Good morning! I'm excited about this one. God did not make any of us for no reason. Let me rephrase that. When God created us, He created us with a purpose to accomplish and gifted us with the potential to reach it. But...how do we access it? What do we need to unlock it?

This is a question I've found myself asking at several points in my life, particularly when I accepted my calling into the ministry at 14 years old. This question caused me to question my identity and do a lot of searching. I tried everything before I learned what's about to be shared today. I have to thank God for keeping me in the midst of that process and for still loving me even when that search caused me to turn my back on Him. In that search for answers, I found a crucial piece of information: Our relationship with God is the first and main step to understanding our purpose. It wasn't until I turned back to Christ that I began to understand who I was. And my identity is Christ is so much more valuable than material things. Temporary things. Fading things. That search not only taught me how important the relationship I had with God was and how crucial working to maintain it was, but it also showed me how beautiful this relationship is. Don't get me wrong, my relationship with God is NOT perfect. But it is ever-growing. As the old folks used to say "Everyday with Jesus is sweeter than the day before." And even on my worst days, His presence is a place of joy and refuge! I said all of that to say this. As we grow with Him, we begin to to understand what His voice sounds like. He guides us and helps us grow into who we were created to be. However, this doesn't happen over night. (Had to learn that the hard way. And it's something that's reinforced the hard way sometimes too.) It is a process that takes both time and effort. My bro, Sean is here with me today to talk about this process and how vital manifesting our potential is.

I love ramen noodles. There are so many flavors, and there is so much finessing you can do with them. Ramen noodles take some preparation though; the potential possibilities are endless, but it is a process. Psalm 139 is a wonderful chapter about purpose, potential and pathways. I want to highlight verse 16 when it comes to potential: “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” (Psalm 139:16 NLT)

The foundation of unlocking potential is knowing God already knows your life. The Lord sees your entire life. When God speaks to us, he’s talking from his past. We are the ones catching up, so there is no need for anxiety, fear, doubt and other roadblocks to rule over our lives. All we have to do is listen and catch up. Easier said than done, right? How do we release what is inside of us?

Realize your potential is already inside of you. So many of us try to look for things on the outside of us to validate and accelerate who we are. I'm not talking about resources, I'm talking about identity. Know who you are. When you can identify who you are, it’s not as difficult to pull potential out of you, because you know what is being pulled out. If you know you can't rap a single lick, you won't try to pull rapping out of you and waste time on being in the studio like all these social media rappers. And the church said amen.

Realize you come with ingredients. There are specific instructions for your life, written by the divine Creator. Think about a meal or a dessert with specific ingredients. If you put the wrong thing in there, it will taste disgusting. We have to hear God’s voice and not let the wrong ingredients get inside of us to mess up our potential. Think of ingredients as influence.

Lastly, realize you have to move. So many people are lazy, procrastinate, or let doubt and fear stop their movement. Emotions can get in the way. Intellect can get in the way. Make a move. Potential becomes kinetic when there is motion. Move, and you will prosper and flourish. Move.

Man...Sean really hit the nail on the head. God has empowered us execute and achieve our purpose. He's already placed that potential within us. But it's not just going to happen because we know this. We've got to do our part as well. All of us have the potential to achieve our purpose, but it can go to waste if we aren't actively pursuing it. There are so many people that do not achieve their full potential because they aren't willing to move. They aren't willing to make the sacrifices and step outside of their comfort zones to reach it. Are you? This isn't about anyone else's journey or path. I'm asking if YOU are willing to put in the necessary work to bring this potential out? Take some time out to really think about this. And above all else, please make sure it's God guiding you and not yourself. That's why having a relationship with Him is so important, because it allows us to hone in on His voice and receive clear guidance from Him. Strive to use each moment you're given to fully maximize and manifest your God given potential. That's how we achieve our purpose. It's past time for us to get our priorities in order. Narrow your focus and start hitting the mark. That's how we change lives. And that's how we can lead a fulfilling life. I love you, I'm praying for you and be blessed.
